i'm sorry kitty

ava adores grandma's cat, but, of course, has a very special way of expressing this. over the summer, i've found ava :

  • lying on top of the cat
  • washing the cat with the garden hose
  • "brushing" the cat with a plastic rake
  • "feeding" the cat dirt and rocks
  • trying to put clothes on the cat

today, the cat finally had enough and fought back. ava and the cat were in the living room, and ava came running into the kitchen displaying a small wound on her forearm saying "bite you! bite you!" , "cat did it!". since ava was actually distinctly non-hysterical about the incident, i decided that perhaps there could be a moral to the story. so, i proceeded to explain that the cat was old, and ava needed to be more gentle, etc. ava listened rather solemnly and then said "i'm sorry kitty . . . "

(icing on the cake : over the summer she's picked up a distinctly canadian accent on the word "sOOOOrry"!)
