urban babies drink coffee

john usually gets ava up in the morning, serves ava her morning milk, and then makes a big production about making his morning coffee and toast. ava enjoys john's theatrics as well as the bites of toasts and drops of coffee that come her way at the end of the process.

ava's had her very own french press for quite some time. it used to be our "extra" french press - a completely useless device that makes about 2/3 of one cup of coffee. somehow it wound up filed with ava's toy kitchen items and became one of her possessions. i don't think she really knew what it was for quite awhile, but she's put it all together now. today she retrieved it from "her cupboard", saying "coffee, coffee", and then marched over to the cupboard where john keeps the ground coffee, and pointed up to the coffee jar ("coffee, coffee") and would not rest until i found her something to put her her coffee maker (dried kidney beans did the trick).
