tour de brooklyn
ava and john signed up for this year's "tour de brooklyn" - a 20 mile group ride 'round the borough. prior to this, ava longest ride (on the trail-a-bike) was probably closer to 6 or 7 miles, so we weren't sure how it would go, but it seemed worth a try.
the morning started off with pastries at colon's bakery, and then they were off on their adventure.
ava's outfit was daddy's request, not ava's. john's reflection on the outfit after the ride was that it was an unintended stroke of genius. as the other rider's rode alongside, they would talk to the little cat-fairy, and recognize her later on, and say hello again. ava's comment was that "the wings were a bit idea, because they were too distracting for the other bikers".
one thing the tour de brooklyn is not... is fast. the ride "just in time" rolling road closures, so there are lots of pauses along the way when the road closing doesn't happen quite fast enough. but four hours or so later, ava completed her first twenty mile bike ride!
