construction crew

ava frequently goes on trips to the bay area discovery museum. part of their outside playground has a construction theme, including a replica of the golden gate bridge under construction, with hats, cones and pieces of the bridge to play with. ava leans a little bit more towards "dress-up" than "building" these days, so she enjoyed the hats.

another part of the playground features dump trucks, gravel and shovels. it's highly amusing watching the ava-aged toddlers attempt to pilot shovels-as-tall-as-they-are with one hand. ava gave up after awhile and came up with her own use for the dump truck.

this also happened to be the first day that ava wore her "big girl jeans" - her first pair of pants without elastic waist bands. this is not a fashion statement by her mother, but a sad discovery that baby gap does not make elastic waist jeans big enough for ava. i think the gap designers are off a little on their calculation of the appropriate age for non-elastic jeans. ava's round and sloping belly tends to make her jeans sag, adding a nice finishing touch to the construction worker look
