the doodle bot
ava has really been enjoying taking the occasional class at the the brooklyn robot foundry - the newest addition to our already awesome neighborhood. so far, ava has built three robots: a box bot, a talking box bot and... the doodle bot. the doodle bot (with an R2D2 "mask") being her hands-down favorite.

day of snow
it's starting to look like it might be another one-snow winter here in nyc. but, at least this year, we got to enjoy our "day of snow". it snowed heavily overnight, so we woke up bright and early ready to hit the park for some sledding.
the meadow in the park was under a good 12 inches of fluffy white stuff - more than enough for some good sled runs.
ava even pitched in and helped pull a younger friend up the hill after each run.

thirty below zero
now that we live in a temperate zone, i can't gloat quite as much about our winter weather when talking to my canadian friends. however, this year, -30 C has been an uncommonly common temperature in thunder bay. one of those days, it happened to be about 55 F in nyc, so i seized the opportunity to snap a picture of ava sunning herself in the playground.

family skiing
thunder bay was frighteningly short on snow this christmas season, but thanks to the make-the-most-of-every-inch-of-it trail maintenance at kamview, we were still able to do lots of cross-country skiing.
